SMART goal worksheet

Give your goal a clear finish line. Write what you want to do, how you will recognize progress, and why it matters. Then edit a plan you can keep.

1. Define your goal

All fields are required except approach and obstacles. Character limits keep the plan readable.

Be specific. Up to 300 characters.

Your personal reason. Up to 500 characters.

A completed action is a valid measure. You do not need to invent a number.

For example, a booking confirmation. Up to 200 characters.

For example, a place booked in a local workshop. Up to 200 characters.

Today or later in your device’s local time zone. This is a calendar date, not a reminder.

A first action, available time or resources. Up to 500 characters.

What could get in the way? What could you try? Up to 800 characters.

2. Make the statement yours

Your worksheet will appear here. Edit any wording before copying or printing. This template does not score your goal or judge whether it is achievable.

Print opens your browser’s dialog. Choose “Save as PDF” if available. Only your edited worksheet is printed; turn off browser headers and footers for a clean page.

Your entries stay in this page’s memory. They are not sent to GoalifyNow, stored in your browser or added to the URL. Copy or print before leaving; reloading or closing clears your work.

A SMART template, without invented numbers

SMART stands for specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and time-bound. Use the headings to clarify your own choices. A useful measure can be a count with units, or visible evidence that something is finished. SMART wording does not guarantee success.

Completion example

“By my chosen deadline, I will book a place in a local beginner pottery workshop. My evidence is a booking confirmation; finished means the date fits my calendar and the fee is within my budget. This matters because I want a regular creative activity.”

First action: compare two local class schedules this weekend. Obstacle: the first class may be full; response: check another date.

A numeric alternative

For “read more,” the metric could be pages read and the target “finish 120 pages by my deadline.” Keep the unit and period in your target. You decide what is realistic; the worksheet does not calculate a quality score.

Turn your plan into an action

Choose one next step and review the plan when your circumstances change. For repeated actions, try the printable habit tracker. To explore ongoing digital tracking, see GoalifyNow’s features or try the web habit starter. Your worksheet is not automatically imported.
