Weekly goal-review template
Take 10 minutes to look at what happened, understand what got in the way, and choose a manageable next step. An unfinished goal is information about your plan and circumstances, not a judgment about you.
A practical 10-minute weekly review
Choose a regular review time, such as Sunday afternoon. Bring your calendar, notes or tracker. If you have no records, use what you remember; you do not need to reconstruct every day.
-
Notice what happened (2 minutes)
Compare the intention with what actually happened. Write concrete observations: “read on two evenings” or “sent the application.” Include small progress, rest or asking for help when those mattered.
-
Understand the blockers (3 minutes)
Pick one unmet commitment. What changed: available time, energy, resources, a dependency, or the goal itself? Describe the situation without calling yourself lazy or treating a missed day as a failed week.
-
Choose an adjustment (2 minutes)
Keep, shrink, reschedule, pause or drop the goal. Choose deliberately rather than copying all unfinished work forward. If the goal no longer matters, dropping it can be a useful decision. You do not owe the plan catch-up work.
-
Make next week specific (3 minutes)
Choose one to three commitments that fit your actual calendar. For each, name a next action, a time or cue, observable evidence of completion, and a smaller fallback. Set your next review time. If capacity is limited, one small action or an intentional pause is enough.
Need a clearer finish line? Use the SMART goal worksheet. Check the weekly time budget before adding commitments, or review the first-week goal and habit plan if you are just starting.
Worked example: a reading goal meets a busy week
This fictional example shows an unmet goal and an adjustment. The blank download contains only prompts and writing space.
- Intention
- Read for 20 minutes on four evenings.
- What happened
- Read for 20 minutes on Monday and Thursday. Two planned sessions did not happen. Finishing a chapter helped me unwind.
- What got in the way
- Late meetings used the time I had set aside on Tuesday and Wednesday. Four evening sessions did not fit this week.
- Adjustment
- Keep the reading goal, shrink the commitment to two sessions, and move the cue earlier. No extra sessions to “make up” the missed ones.
- Next-week commitment
- Read for 10 minutes after lunch on Tuesday and Thursday. Put the book beside my lunch bag. Done means two reading sessions, recorded with two ticks. If lunch is rushed, read one page before bed.
- Next review
- Sunday at 5 pm: did the lunch cue fit, and do I want to keep it?
A repeatable action can go on the printable habit tracker. Two ticks describe what happened; they are not a score of your worth.
Your weekly review worksheet
Edit the prompts below or use the blank sheet on paper. There are no required answers and no progress score. “Use example” and “Start blank” replace the editor; copy anything you want to keep first.

Open the downloaded file in a browser and print, or choose “Save as PDF” if available. It works offline and contains no example answers. On paper, repeat the commitment block for up to three actions.
Your entries stay in this page’s memory. They are not sent to GoalifyNow, stored in your browser, added to the URL or included in analytics. Copy or print before leaving; reloading or closing clears your work. This worksheet does not save history, create reminders or update your account.
Bring one decision back to your goals
After reviewing, change one thing you can act on: a smaller target, a better cue, a later date or a pause. If you use GoalifyNow, you can make that change yourself in your existing plan. Explore the existing goal and habit features or try the public habit starter. Nothing from this worksheet is transferred automatically.
